LOOKING FORWARD TO AUGUST

This August, we focus on seeing Beauty as God does .... not by a standard of "pretty" but rather the essence of sacred worth that can only be sensed by the Spirit.

August Worship Preview: "Beguiled by Beauty: Cultivating a Life of Contemplation and Compassion"

AUGUST WORSHIP UPDATE!   (SUMMER WORSHIP IS AT 9:30 AM)

Our worship services will be “hybrid” meaning you can choose to come “in-person” or watch on Facebook Live @ 9:30 AM (or at your leisure as the video will be recorded and saved online).  You do NOT need to be a Facebook subscriber to participate in FB Live.

Sunday, August 2nd Worship at 9:30 AM - Outdoor Service on the Lawn!

Weather permitting, we’ll kick off our return to worship at Calvary with an outdoor service on the lawn.  If rain is in the forecast, we’ll move into the sanctuary.  PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN LAWN CHAIR or blanket.  A few chairs will be available and one parking spot will be marked off for anyone who wishes to stay in their car.   Families are encouraged to come.  Holy Communion may be available – we are ordering pre-packaged individual cups and wafers which can be provided in a safe manner. August 9, 16, 23, & 30 will be in the sanctuary unless we choose to have a 2nd outdoor service!

PHASE TWO OF OUR RE-OPENING PLAN HAS BEGUN                                                 Designated spaces on the first floor only (Sanctuary, Fellowship Hall, Stage, Narthex and Bathrooms) are available to all building use groups that have signed off on the Covid-19 Protocol Compliance Agreement.

We will be posting a short video soon to visually walk you through the steps we’ve taken to keep all who use our building safe from the car to the pew/chair and back.  We want you to feel safe and to make decisions based on knowledge of YOUR PERSONAL NEEDS AND OUR BUILDING SPACE AND CV-19 PROTOCOLS.

As a reminder, these are the main points of our CV-19 Protocols:

*  Safe distancing (6 ft min. is maintained (our beautiful sanctuary allows for this easily)

*  Masks are worn at all times

*  Hand sanitizing upon entry or arrival

*  Commonly touched surfaces are disinfected before and after each group uses the building

*  Air circulation enhanced (why Calvary will worship in the sanctuary with all windows open)

*  No congregational singing indoors – we’ll listen to our wonderful singers and musicians

*  No touch policy – continue to hold off on those hugs and handshakes!

*  CDC and NJ State restrictions and guidelines are followed

Dumont Black Lives Matter Event - June 9, 2020

Begin or continue your journey of changing inherent racism.  We invite you to reflect on this video, "Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man," which is less than 15 minutes long.  Calvary UMC will continue its intentional effort to help individuals, and our congregation, to learn, listen, and change as we endeavor to BE the church and community that God envisioned.  Black lives matter just as all lives matter.  Please keep visiting our website for updates on events you are warmly invited to participate in, or give us your email so we can reach out to you.

Please enjoy this past Sunday 7/5/20 Worship,

Friday June 26    Jesus Calling  Devotional  by Sarah Young

STAY CALMLY conscious of Me today, no matter what. Remember that I go before you as well as with you into the day. Nothing takes Me by surprise. I will not allow circumstances to overwhelm you, so long as you look to Me. I will help you cope with whatever the moment presents. Collaborating with Me brings blessings that far outweigh all your troubles. Awareness of My Presence contains Joy that can endure all eventualities.

On Thursday, June 18th Calvary UMC partnered with Dumont Social Services to provide some food for senior citizens living in Dumont as well as some of our church families/seniors.

A total of 75 complete meals were cooked, prepped, packed and delivered to these folks.  Many thanks to all who volunteered.

We will have a similar event for 30 of our CUMC families on July 17th.
